Building an SQL data model: slides

Data models are a key part of the modern digital analytics stack. They allow you to build upon event-level data and interpret it through shared business rules. The models you create will evolve with you as your business changes and the organisation becomes more sophisticated with its data.

Last night I gave a talk about data models in SQL at Web Analytics Wednesday Sydney. The talk covers how we’ve built a data model for our own B2B site, going through the scopes involved. It’s an introduction to the material covered in my five part series on data models.

It was a great audience and Nick’s talk on Tableau was also great. If you’re in Sydney, try and get along to this high quality meetup.
